Grey's Anatomy Monday

This is my last and I'll keep it short. I don't even have too much to say anymore.

What I liked:

• Erica stood up for what she believed in, like I'd expect her to. She has determination and class and as much as I hate to see her go, at least she got to stand up to the Chief and get up in his face and tell him off.
• Bailey. Oh, I will miss her. She's not reason enough to keep me watching, but I will always remember her fondly.
• Cristina being totally oblivious to the McSteamy charm would have been funny in any other episode.
• Hunt telling the Chief off was great to watch - Honestly, I don't know how the Chief is still working at the hospital.

What I didn't like:

• They gave us two Callica-scenes! Two! And those two were spent talking about Izzie. They couldn't have possibly given us less interaction between Callie and Erica if they tried.
• The fact that the writers sacrificed Callie's character to get rid of Erica fast. Callie would have never just told Erica about Denny like that and she wouldn't have had that argument with her and she wouldn't have just let her walk away.
• The writers screwed Erica's character over in the last scene by making her say things that she would have never said hadn't they tried to get rid of her asap.
• Hunt apologized to the Chief and I thought - WTF? I'm not going to miss this show.
• There are so many other things that I didn't like about the episode that I will not list because it would be a waste of my time.

What I would have wanted to see:

• Callie following Erica and not just letting her walk away.
• Erica slapping the Chief - because he deserved it.

Worst Line:

A tie:

"Look, I don't know what happened between Denny Duquette and Izzie Stevens that night, but unless you were in the middle of that situation, I don't see how you can make a judgment."

Favorite Moment:

The scene in which Erica stood up to the Chief and confronted him about Izzie. That was some amazing acting from both and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Brooke Smith will win an Emmy for that.

This is the end. The end of a great, multi-dimensional, interesting, determined, real character. The end of Callica. The end of my love for Grey's Anatomy. And the end of 'Grey's Anatomy Monday'.

When the shit hits the fan

I thought I'd compile a list of facts that we have on the Brooke Smith situation and then tell you what I think about it. There are a lot of rumors floating around, so just to be perfectly save, I'll only include official statements.

After having filmed the 'You are glasses' scene and being told how great she was in it, Brooke was told "they couldn't write for my character anymore." Shonda told her and to Brooke "it definitely seemed like [Shonda's] hands were tied".

For full disclosure, here's Shonda Rhimes' statement:

"Brooke Smith was obviously not fired for playing a lesbian. Clearly it's not an issue as we have a lesbian character on the show – Calliope Torres. Sara Ramirez is an incredible comedic and dramatic actress and
we wanted to be able to play up her magic. Unfortunately, we did not find that the magic and chemistry with Brooke's character would sustain in the long run. The impact of the Callie/Erica relationship will be felt and played out in a story for Callie. I believe it belittles the relationship to simply replace Erica with 'another lesbian.' If you'll remember, Cristina mourned the loss of Burke for a full season." (Emphasis mine)

Everyone with a pair of eyes knows that this can't possibly be true. If the magic or chemistry was off the blame definitely lies with the writers for writing Callie the way they did. How can you tell Brooke how amazing she was in her coming out speech and then say that the chemistry wouldn't sustain in the long run? Besides, they could have simply broken up and that would have made for good drama.

What we also know is that ABC sent their stars a statement containing what they were allowed to say and I think we can call that a gag-order. Patrick Dempsey's interview on Ellen is evidence enough for me.



Here's what I think went down:

They filmed the 'You are glasses' scene and episode and I guess they have to run their episodes through with the execs. Then, three things happened.

1. The big bosses were surprise to see that this wasn't a 'Two hot girls making out while drunk' scene aka 'the ultimate male fantasy', but that this was a real lovestory between two real women, which obviously isn't hot nor interesting to the average straight viewer.

2. I hate to say that but both Brooke and Sara look more like real women than most actresses in Hollywood and I think that this was also part of the problem. While I think Brooke Smith is beautiful and amazing in her own way, the execs probably thought 'If we have lesbians they better be hot/thin/stacked/blond/young.'

3. They probably already had that idea with Erica finding out about Izzie stealing the heart and the execs probably thought that this was the best way to get rid of Erica right away. Honestly, I think that it will make some sense.

I'm still fuming and I hope that we get some more information about this, but Brooke obviously doesn't have real information either, she only knows what Shonda told her, which basically wasn't anything at all.

I am still pissed beyond words and I'll probably be for a while. I'm not quite ready yet to analyze my feelings towards this, so I'm going to post a rundown of the media's reaction and what *YOU* can do if you are angry/disappointed/sad.

Callica will end *this* week

So I broke my own rule and read one spoiler and now I'm devastated and close to tears and I can't even believe that this is happening.

Brooke Smith talked to Ausiello from EW and confirmed that Erica will not be seen again after this week's episode.

The only good thing about her interview is that she seems to feel the same about certain things as I and many fans did.

"Were you happy with the direction the storyline was taking?
You know, I was starting to get there, yeah. I was personally a little impatient with the gay panic, but it was more Callie's thing anyway. I think Dr. Hahn was sort of figuring it out.

What did you think about Callie going to Mark to get pointers on exploring the "undiscovered country."
It was a little icky. If you're a women, don't you know how to please yourself? But they seemed to be okay with that one." (Emphasis mine)

So next week will be the last episode of Grey's Anatomy I will watch for a very, very, very long time! May all hell break loose on AE now!

This makes no sense whatsoever. 'The magic and chemistry with Brooke's character'? Erica was so smitten with Callie and Brooke played that so well, so how can they blame this on 'the magic and chemistry'? If anything, the writing for Callie was bad. Callie was the one who wasn't all in. How can anyone tell me that the 'leaves, you are my glasses' monologue wasn't pure magic? I think this is pure and utter bullsh*t. Callie isn't gay, remember, she's an all forest girl and besides, her magic? What magic? All Callie did since the season premiere was freak out. That's not magic, that's just freaking out. If you feel like the 'magic' isn't working out then change the f*cking script! Besides, with whom is Callie going to be gay? Certainly not with Mark, because that would make Erica an experiment. If they are planning on having Callie recover from Erica just walking away then this would be an EXACT copy of the Cristina/Burke storyline which would be just really, really LAME. I am so angry right now...

Update IV: This is my last update, I promise. Here's the link from AE to what Shonda Rhimes said only THREE months ago about Callica:

"We'll also finally get to see the experience from Erica's point of view, as well. "We don't really know Erica's side of the story yet, in terms of what's going on with the two of them," Rhimes explained.
"We're going to watch that play out and then we're going to watch
the larger world of what happens when the two of them come out in the hospital, and what happens when Callie's dad find out and that sort of thing, which I think is going to be really, really interesting.""

That was in July! Not that long ago!

There are rumors buzzing around about Sara leaving the show, which, frankly, I would understand. No confirmation from any official side, but I'll definitely continue reading about this mess and believe me, I will post about this more. But enough for tonight, it's half past four in the morning right now and I think even though I won't be able to sleep, I should at least try.

Grey's Anatomy Monday

Did anyone notice that the patient, Tori, was played by Adair Tishler who plays Molly Walker on Heroes? She's a good actress and a really cute little girl.

What I liked:

• Erica's coming out speech and the fact that she's so open with Callie. A few people have said that it was too much too early, but after all the freaking-out that Callie has done I think it's only fair that Erica gets to have a little emotional outburst as well. Especially because her outburst was one of the positive kinds. I also loved how Erica didn't burst into tears nor had tears streaming down her face but sort of held it together despite the fact that she was clearly ready to cry. After watching the scene a few times, I felt like she was giving up as much control as she could while still being in control of her tears. Make any sense to you?
• Callie's outfits. I just love the clothes the wardrobe department puts Sara Ramirez into, they really know how to accentuate her best features.
• Cristina fled when she saw Owen and that was so hilarious! Loved that scene!
• Bailey finally getting the responsibilities she deserves and that she said "I can do that" when the Chief told her to 'be me'. Although, in my mind, she said "Be you, only better. I can do that."
• Mark's new leaf is really working out for him and I really love him for telling Callie that she's a cheater. The scene in which Derek burst into the on-call room and while leaving said "Hey Torres" at the hiding Callie was pretty funny as well.
• Bailey stood up to Erica and she had every right to, Erica behaved like a bitch all day long. I completely understand why Erica did what she did and I felt her pain throughout the whole episode, but I love that Bailey stood up to her even though Erica's an attending.
• I really like Owen Hunt. He's an adult, he talks to people and he can take criticism and that's a welcome change at Seattle Grace. I loved the interactions between Cristina and Owen, those two actors have chemistry!

What I didn't like:

• Callie's insensitivity throughout the whole episode - Okay, so she didn't know how to handle Erica's revelation, but she didn't even flinch when Mark told her that she's a cheater and then, instead of apologizing to Erica, she tells her to shut up? And at the end of the episode, she's suddenly very aware of Mark's feelings and then does the macho-manly thing and asks "She's not going to cry every time, is she?" That was so out-of-character for Callie, I feel like they are trying to butch her up, not appearance-wise but character-wise. Either that or the writers watched too much 'The L Word' in preparation and thought that if a character turns gay/bi, then it's perfectly normal to change that character around 180 degrees like they've done it with every other character on TLW.
• Lexie apologized to George and I thought 'WTF?'. I agree that she takes things too personally, but he treated her badly and she shouldn't take that.
  

What I want to see in the next episode:

• Some more closure between Erica, Callie and Mark, especially if Callie will hang out and be friends with Mark. I can't see how that's not going to hurt Erica unless they address the situation and talk about it. A real apology from Callie wouldn't hurt either.
• More scenes with Owen and Cristina!
• Bailey being Bailey - 'cause that's enough to make me happy.

Favorite Quote:

"When I was a kid, I would get these headaches, and I went to the doctor, and they said that I needed glasses. I didn't understand that, it didn't make sense to me because I could see fine. And then I get the glasses, and I put them on, and I'm in the car on the way home and suddenly, I yell ... because the big green blobs that I've been staring at my whole life, they weren't big green blobs, they were leaves, on trees! I could see the leaves, and I didn't even know I was missing the leaves, I didn't even know that leaves existed! And then - leaves! You are *glasses*. I am so gay, I am so, so, so gay, I am extremely gay!" (And that was so beautiful! Can you imagine being someone's glasses?)

Favorite Moment:

The final scene between Cristina and Owen in which Owen tells Cristina about the ambush and his unit. (*Gasp* I know, not a Callica scene!)

Grey's Anatomy Monday

First of all, I want to say a HUGE *Thank you* to Sara Ramirez for her boldness to appear on national Prime time TV a) in red boyshorts (even though we 'only' saw her back), b) dancing her underwear, and c) taking her shirt off! Sara's figure doesn't fit into Hollywood's ridiculous 'beauty' standard and I have to say - I approve! Damn, that woman is hot!

This is my 100th blog post - hard to believe, I know - and it perfectly connects to my first blog post. Grey's Anatomy was one inspiration for this blog and up until last week's episode, I was thoroughly convinced that the writer's wouldn't completely eff up my beloved couple - some drama, sure. But last week's episode, "There's No 'I' in Team"? Whole different story.

What I liked:

• The first Callica scene. Callie and Erica were so cute talking about how taking it slow was the 'Best. Idea. Ever.' and that there was no reason to rush things and the next moment they are all over each other.
• Cristina is so mean, but I just think she's hilarious. How she treats her interns is so wrong on so many levels, but it still cracks me up. (Does that make me a bad person?). I also like that she seems to find closure with the whole Burke thing.
• I liked Mark in the first part of the episode. He was funny, saying stuff like 'Two girls getting nasty and loving it? That's hot. One girl taking about how much it sucked? Depressing. And wrong. Just wrong.'
• I loved that Lexie told George that he's a jerk. I really hope that that's the last we'll see of their relationship.
• Brooke Smith completely blew my mind in this episode. I just loved perky and happy Erica and then how the shock and hurt settled on her face when she realized that Callie didn't have a good time. I really fell even harder for Erica, also because she's been showing us this side of her that we haven't seen much yet.
• Callie being bossy and telling Erica to 'take your pants off'. And then she took her shirt off. *Swoon*

What I didn't like:

• Callie didn't even tell Erica what was wrong, she made her guess and then she just let her walk away. That is so wrong and such a heartless thing to do. Clearly, Callie was uncomfortable with the situation, but she gave Erica the impression that what Erica did was bad for her. If I'm interpreting the situation correctly, that's not even the case. That was really low, you'd think that Callie had learned from the past and would 'use her words', like she asked George to.
• Callie slept with Mark and no matter what they exactly did, that's cheating in my book. I was really on the fence about this all weekend long, but I think Callie cheated on Erica. She did the wrong thing for the right reasons, which still doesn't make it right. Had she tried talking to Erica or just tried having sex again, I am sure she would have figured it out on her own. But to ask Mark to 'show her'? Given her history with George, I can't believe that Callie wouldn't think that what she did was cheating.
• The make-up sex happened in an on-call room, which I really hated. Erica isn't the person to have sex at the hospital and besides, it's their second time, how romantic is that? I guess they don't have a set for Erica's place, which I get, but it is a bit disappointing because I would love to see what Erica's place would look like.
• With all the talk about his new leaf, Mark was ready to 'show Callie' pretty fast. That was disappointing as well. As her friend, he should have known better, IMHO.
• Erica clearly is into Callie far more than Callie is into Erica and I just don't understand how Callie doesn't see that.

What I want to see in the next episode:

• Some honesty coming from Callie.
• Cristina and Owen!
• Lexiepedia not being in love with George.

"If it were me, I'd start with 'thank you', you'd be surprised how far that one goes, especially with us silly emotional women."

Favorite Moment:

I was going to go with the last Callica scene, but I changed my mind. My favorite moment was Callie and Erica getting back from their date, talking about pressure and rushing things and then falling onto the couch in a tangle of limbs.

In case you haven't noticed it, up to now Callie was my favorite character. But in the latest episode, "Brave New World", Erica started to seriously threaten Callie's place at the top of that list. We'll see how this development will evolve with the next episodes.

What I liked:

• Erica being so into Callie and showing it so openly, even though she probably wasn't even aware of it.
• Bailey was hilarious in this episode - her travel/food metaphors cracked me up!
• The little kid was cute and I liked that George stood up for what he thought was the right thing to do.
• Erica threatening Meredith over lying, with that cold and completely serious voice.
• The music - Grey's generally has good music, but I noticed some really good songs in this episode.
• I also noticed the wardrobe, I loved both the casual outfits Callie and Erica wore while moving and I absolutely loved their date outfits. Callie looked amazing in the dress, but I have to say Erica blew me away with that neckline and the necklace. So beautiful, both of them!
• Callie taking Erica's water without asking - this small action shows how comfortable those two can be around each other.

What I didn't like:

• Meredith lying about her experience - there's a little boy's life on the line, for Christ's sake!
• Izzie taking Alex's abuse. I just hated their exchange at the bar - there is simply no excuse for treating Izzie that way and she shouldn't take it.
• I so don't care about MerDer and I don't care about Ellis or her diary. Sorry, I just don't.
• The whole Lexie/George relationship. One, as soon as passes his test he runs off to tell Izzie? Really? Two, we've seen these kind of crushes on TV so often before and it's just old and uninspired.

What I want to see in the next episode:

• Callie being calm and collected. Honestly, after four episodes, I'm over her freaking out. I get that she's nervous, but it is starting to get old.
• First or second bases. Or just any kind of body contact between my two favorite ladies. A hug, a kiss goodnight, some cuddling, just something. With all the talk about sex you'd think they give us at least a goodnight kiss or some handholding over the table at the date.

Favorite Quote:

"You lie to me again about your experience and the next heart you see will be your own as I cut it out of your chest with a steak knife."

New! - Favorite Moment:

(Actually, I have two favorite moments, because it is just too difficult to choose one.) First, just the short moment when Erica touched Callie's back in her new apartment. Second, Erica watching Callie get on the elevator - *swoon*!!

Grey's Anatomy Monday

I feel the need to write a little preface to this post: As you might or might not know, one of Sara's best friends, Al Rodriguez died this summer of cancer. The assumption is that this happened around the time filming for Grey's started again. Naturally, his death affected Sara and she probably took some time off. Had this not happened, I would probably be more critical of the way Callica is handled at the moment. But it did happen and right now, what is important is that Sara is alright. Life is more important than a TV-show, even if it doesn't seem that way from my blog sometimes, and if you are a Sara-fan like me you'll have probably noticed that she's not as radiant as she used to be. Which is only natural as well, since one of her best friends passed away. My point is, Sara is a great actress, but there are things that you just can't fabricate sometimes.

What I liked:

• Erica's hair. I know I'm repeating myself, but those curls! Damn, those curls! *Sigh*
• I actually enjoyed Mark teasing Erica, it was amusing. As long as it doesn't actually interfere with Callica I don't mind.
• Callie telling Mark to stop, that was really cute. And the face she made when Mark and Erica talked:

• Cristina taking Izzie's apartment - priceless!
• Meredith finally behaved like an adult and told Derek she didn't want her friends to move out. Finally!
• At the beginning of the Chief's speech, Erica leans forward and asks about the Chief's new rules, but nobody answers her. Erica is the geek in highschool that gets ignored by the cool guys!! That was so awesome, I loved that scene!
• Callie does the adult thing as well and just talks to Erica, is honest with her and tells her that she's friends with Mark. I loved that! Their relationship has a basis that her marriage with George never had - they talk!

What I didn't like:

• The Chief - again! Nobody treats Bailey that way, nobody! I don't care who you are, you treat Bailey with respect. And in the scene in which he tells her to shut down the surgical floor, instead of apologizing like he should have he tells her "Not to gloat". WTF? Did he really think that Bailey would gloat over the fact that they have to shut down their surgical floor? I hope he finally gets his act together, because I really, really don't like him right now.
• Callie's hair. It's too straight, that doesn't suit her.
• The editing was weird, IMO. In the scene with Mark, Erica and Callie, after Erica leaves the room, they cut the scene off abruptly and you can barely make out Callie ask "Okay?". They should have given them a few more frames. Same applies to the bar-scene, Erica delivers her line and then we only get to see Callie's reaction. They could have shown a few more frames of happy, smiling faces.

What I want to see in the next episode:

• Bailey talking about vajayjay!!
• Mark helping Callica, not just teasing Erica.

Favorite quote:

"I think I just hate him because he's seen you naked."

Duh. My favorite quotes will probably always be 'Duh' like this, sorry about that. I just can't help it.

As you all already know, I'm completely obsessed with Callica. So from now on, each Monday, I will post my thoughts on the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy. My two cents might not cover all the scenes from the episode and I will leave out things that I just didn't care for, so if you want to read a complete recap of the episodes check out AfterEllen, Dara is doing hilarious recaps!

What I liked:

• Erica's curls!!! *sigh*
• Cristina telling Meredith to "Shut up!".
• Even though the Chief told Erica that she's a bad teacher, in the end it turns out that she was right from the beginning. Also, while the Chief just stands there and watches Callie panic, Erica calms her down and is able to really help her.
• Cristina realizing that she's not as good as she thought either and that her interns are idiots because she doesn't teach them.
• Cristina's dream sequence
• Callie and Erica's awkwardness - great acting from both lovely ladies
• Callie and Erica's last scene - so sweet, funny and just awesome. Plus I loved that Callie said "You don't need to know that *yet*."
• The fact that Callie said "kissing girls" and Erica said "kissed a woman" - terminology is often an issue when people discover their bi/homosexuality
• Bailey

What I didn't like:

• The Chief. All of him in the episode, really, all of it.
• Meredith not shutting up
• Rose - why did they have to turn her into a crazy person?
• Izzie's dream sequence was a bit strange to me, because she broke up a marriage after Denny died and she still dreams about him? Yeah, I get that it must be hard for her to get over him because she really loved him, but still.
• Alex's reaction to Merediths comment seemed exaggerated.
• Callie really wanted to do the procedure and as soon as something didn't go according to plan, she started to panic and shut down completely. I felt something was missing, she was so insecure so fast which was out of character.

What I want to see in the next episode:

• More Callica screentime
• That Meredith does shut up
• Cristina working on herself and her teaching skills
• More Cristina and Owen scenes - those two have interesting chemistry!

Grey's returns + AE meet-up tomorrow!

Today I watched last Sunday's episode of 'Brunch with Bridget' and suddenly I realized 'Wow, I'm actually going to meet her tomorrow!'. It still seems kind of surreal to me, like I won't believe it until I see them. I am nervous, happy and excited all in once. I will take the early train to Zurich at 8.30 and I'll be in Zurich around noon. Then I might already do some sightseeing, eat lunch and hopefully find some cool places. The Zurich Tourist Information website has an own section dedicated to Gays & Lesbians, how cool is that?? I think I will buy some rainbow gear unless it's too expensive. Then I'll go to the meet-up and I'll probably go to my hotel afterwards. Saturday will be spent sightseeing and then I have to go back to Ibk already. On Sunday, I'll go back home and watch TV all night because our election will take place on Sunday. Busy weekend!

I went to get my hair cut today so that my hair will look good tomorrow and my curls are wild! It looks good, though, because I have an oval-shaped face and curls just suit me. I went to a salon in Ibk and only the second hairdresser since I was a child, so I was a bit anxious, but the hairdresser was really nice and knew exactly what to do with my hair and styled it so it fit my face, so I was really pleased.

Today, Grey's Anatomy returns with the 2-hour season premiere!! Actually, it will be tomorrow here by the time it airs in America, but who's that accurate (I am). I won't be able to watch the whole episode tomorrow morning, because I'm taking the early train, but I hope that someone uploads the Callica scenes so I can at least watch that. Dorothy Snarker posted screencaps and the general plot of the Callica scenes already, so I basically already know what will happen, but nothing beats actually seeing it. Her post is highly spoilery, but those two pictures are so worth being spoilt! So cute! Can you believe the summer is already over? It's been over 4 months (!!) since the season finale aired and to the day 4 months since I started blogging. I have no words.

Grey's spoilers really start rolling in!

I think I might have mentioned it before, I generally try to stay clear of spoilers, due to numerous reasons. Mainly, you never know how reliable a spoiler is and it's just way more fun to be surprised. But with the way the Erica/Callie relationship ended last season, it has been very hard for me to resist. I worry about what will happen with them and I just want to be sure that there will be a Callica-relationship.

So, spoiler warning! Another cute Brooke video surfaced, again from the press tour that the other videos I've already seen were from. I wonder why they held it back!?!

I think it's kinda cute that they are avoiding each other. Did you notice the smile when she said "Sandra" - they played lovers *hehe*.

At the 'Television without pity forum', someone uploaded a TV Guide article (huge thanks!). It seems that McSteamy is in the picture to play Cupid, not to get involved with either of them, which is a huge relieve to me! And look at that picture of Erica and Mark.

It looks like Erica will actually wear curls in the new season!! I know that I'm obsession about her hair, but I just love her curls, I can't help it. Secret turn-on for me (okay, maybe not so secret).

(BTW, sorry for the 'double post', but I didn't want to mix the two topics.)

Pure randomness

I recently saw a new picture of Patrick "McDreamy" Dempsey on the set of Grey's and then fired up google to see if I could find a picture of Brooke or Sara, but didn't. So imagine my glee when I visit to Grey's Anatomy Insider and find this:

*YAY*. For two reasons: 1) Those glasses - how cool can one person be? 2) Her hair - I admit it could be curlier, but it still is pretty curly and looks different than last season, so I'm excited already!! I hope that that picture was taken after hair and makeup, because I need to see some curly hair going on with Erica!! I really need to visit GA Insider more often, I am usually pretty up-t- date with all the good fansites and links, but I somehow hadn't gotten into that one yet. But now I'm not going to let this site slip from my sight again!

Added new blog to the blogroll, well, actually a LJ journal. This girl has some really funny and interesting comments about Grey's Anatomy and Callica and she can write some mean fanfic (Callie/Izzie one-shot).

I'm feeling sort of random right now. At lunch today my mum told me she's worried about me because she thinks I live in two parallel universes. Duh! I tried to explain to her that that is not a bad thing and that being online so much basically keeps me sane. Or as sane as I am. Because if I didn't read and write Callica fanfiction and if I didn't watch old Grey's Anatomy episodes to rave about Callie's scenes I might as well have myself admitted.

I feel a bit bad for Liz. In the last "This just out", she told Raimy that she thinks more girls are into Raimy than into her. I kind of think that she might be right, I have a huge crush on Raimy as well. But for Liz it must be a bit weird because it's her show and she does most of the work. She did mention it for a reason - mainly to make Raimy feel better about the way she looks (as in not being thin), but I wonder how she really feels about that.

My Weekend Crush

I’m shamelessly stealing this idea from Dorothy Surrenders, whose weekend crush this weekend is: Sara Ramirez, who was my weekend crush last week. Obviously, Dorothy expressed her love for Sara more eloquently than I did, but our message is the same: Sara is hot!!

You could consider this to be part 2 to last weekend’s crush. Brooke Smith plays the other half of Callica, resident heart surgeon Erica Hahn. Erica is uncompromised, tells both the Chief and McSteamy off and generally doesn’t like people she doesn’t know. But she’s made friends with Callie, for which tons of lesbians and Grey’s fans are grateful! I already posted this video, but in case you haven’t seen it yet, you should really check out this little interview with Brooke Smith about the first Callica kiss.

Brooke Smith appeared in The Silence of the Lambs and has guest-starred in numerous shows such as Weeds, Law & Order, Six Feet Under and Crossing Jordan (and many more). Smith was originally only cast as a guest-star in Grey’s Anatomy in five episodes in season 2 & 3 (2x25 – 2x27, 3x09 + 3x10). But, probably after Isaiah Washington got fired, the creators asked her back to become a series regular, starting from episode 4x05. She does an amazing job portraying the fierce, sometimes even rude Erica while still allowing her character to show her feelings – I especially loved the scene where Erica tells Callie she’s mad at her because she just disappeared on her, not because she’s sleeping with Sloan.

Brooke Smith has two daughters, 5-year-old Fanny and the adopted 7-months old Lucy. She has the most amazing blue eyes probably on TV right now, especially because she can put so much emotion into them. With her, I really have the feeling that the eyes are the windows to the soul (the pictures don’t do those eyes justice :-( ). What makes her even more crush-worthy in my eyes is that she has really great curly hair, which I totally dug! Even though the way the stylist styles her hair for Grey’s fits Erica’s character way better, I still love her curls!

Last week on Grey's Anatomy's season finale, Callie Torres kissed Erica Hahn after a lot of talk about threesomes. Callie decided to be honest and allow her feelings and we'll see next season how that's going to work out for her. I was hoping that she would not continue to have meaningless sex with McSteamy, even though I liked the idea that she's really just using him and isn't at all interested in him. Usually, on tv, woman are not allowed to act that way (except for Samantha on Sex and the City). Anyways, Callie tries to explain to Erica how she feels, but is so overwhelmed that she can't express it other than by kissing Erica *Yay*.

While the storyline and the pairing really made me dance around happily - for real! - their kisses were a bit disappointing. Here's the thing: on "The L Word", kisses are always so steamy and hot and French (hehe), that the Callica kisses seemed tame and tv-kissy. While I get it that it must be difficult for the actresses to be all "hot and bothered" with all the cameras, I still was disappointed. "The L Word" has spoiled me, especially Leisha Hailey and Rose Rollins, Jennifer Beals and Laurel Holloman.

I realise that Showtime is a very different to ABC, but still. I can't wait how the Callica relationship is going to turn out, because I really want to see some more action between Callie and Erica. Check out what Brooke Smith has to say about the first kiss! These two actresses are beautiful and hot and they just need a little more training *snicker*.

Soundtrack to my life

I tend to listen to the same cd/artist/song over and over again until I get sick of it. The latest music addiction is "Sky" by Joshua Radin feat. Ingrid Michaelson. They played that song on Grey's when Erica kissed Callie for the first time. That was when I fell in love with this song. Since then, "Sky" has been playing on my laptop ALL THE TIME. I'm a bit obsessed, I do realise that. But I so don't care :)

My Weekend Crush

In case you don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy and don’t read AfterEllen, go to youtube and check out the “Callie and Erica” videos. Dr. Callie Torres is my favourite Grey’s character. She’s smart, she’s beautiful, she’s hot and she likes to break bones. Sara Ramirez is the actress who plays her. She went to Juillard, started out at Broadway, won a Tony for her role in “Spamelot” and then got offered a role in any ABC primetime show. Since she was a fan of Grey’s, she picked that show and ever since I just love her. She’s a great role model, because she’s not a size 0 and her character is very confident and dances around in underwear and goes to the toilet naked *snicker*. Ah, great moments on my tv!! Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Callie kissed Erica Hahn in the season finale. More about that will come later, check out AfterEllen for more. She also took part in the glaad campaign against discrimination and filmed one spot in Spanish.

There’s not a lot of information on Sara Ramirez private life online, so I have no idea whether she’s in a relationship, straight or lesbian (my fantasy). But one thing I know for sure: she’s gorgeous.
